Who we are

AL IJAZ TRAVEL LTD, trading as Al Ijaz Travel, is the data controller for the personal data described on this page. That means we decide what is collected here and what happens to it, and we are the ones answerable for it.

Our registered address is Office 1793, 85 Dunstall Hill Wolverhampton, WV60SR, UK. For anything on this page — a question, a request, or a complaint — write to info@alijaztravel.co.uk.

What we collect, and when

Almost everything we hold about you, you typed into the enquiry form and chose to send. There is no account to create on this site, and nothing is gathered in the background beyond the measurement cookies described further down.

The enquiry form asks for six things:

  • The lead passenger’s name
  • A phone number we can reach you on
  • An email address
  • How many people are travelling, in your own words
  • Anything you want to tell us, which is optional
  • Your confirmation that we may reply — a tick box, never pre-ticked

What we deliberately do not ask for

A quote is not a booking, so the form does not ask for passport numbers, dates of birth, home addresses or payment details. Asking for identity documents before anyone has committed to anything creates a risk for you and a liability for us, for no benefit to either.

If you go on to book, we will need some of those details to issue tickets and arrange a visa. We will ask for them then, directly, and only for what the booking actually requires.

Why we are allowed to use it

For an enquiry, our lawful basis is your consent — the tick box on the form, which gates submission and is never pre-ticked. You can withdraw it at any time by replying and saying so, and withdrawing it is as easy as giving it was.

If you become a customer, we also rely on performance of a contract for the data needed to arrange and deliver your travel, and on our legal obligations where a rule requires us to keep a record.

Who else sees it

The enquiry form does not send your details to a server of ours. It opens WhatsApp with your message already written, and you press send. Your enquiry therefore travels as a WhatsApp message, handled under WhatsApp’s own terms as well as ours once it reaches us.

The other parties involved in running this site are our hosting provider, which serves the pages, and Google, which provides the advertising measurement described below. Neither is sent your enquiry.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

  • WhatsApp, operated by Meta — carries the enquiry you send
  • Google — advertising measurement only, and only once you have accepted it
  • Our hosting provider — serves this website
  • TODO(client): the airlines, hotels and visa processors that receive booking data once someone books. List them here.

Cookies and measurement

This site uses Google Ads measurement to understand which adverts lead to genuine enquiries. It sets an advertising cookie and reports a conversion when someone contacts us by WhatsApp, phone or email, or completes the enquiry form.

None of it runs until you accept it. The banner shown on your first visit sets that choice, and nothing advertising-related is stored on your device while the answer is no or not yet given. You can change your mind at any time from the link at the foot of any page, and declining costs you nothing — every part of this site works the same either way.

Separately, and whatever you choose, your own browser keeps a draft of anything part-typed into the enquiry form, so a closed tab does not cost you the whole form. That draft never leaves your device, cannot be read by us, and is cleared the moment the enquiry is sent. Clearing your browser data removes it.

How long we keep it

An enquiry that does not become a booking is kept only as long as it is useful for answering it and following up once.

TODO(client): state the real retention periods — how long an unconverted enquiry is kept, and how long booking records are held after travel. Financial and ATOL records generally must be kept for several years, so this needs an actual answer rather than an estimate.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it if it is wrong, delete it, limit what we do with it, or hand it over in a portable form. You can also object to a particular use, and withdraw any consent you have given.

Write to info@alijaztravel.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, but you are not obliged to.

  • TODO(client): the ICO registration number, once registered. Most organisations processing personal data must register and pay the annual data protection fee.

Changes to this notice

If what we do with personal data changes, this page changes with it. We will not quietly broaden what is collected and leave the old wording up.

TODO(client): add a last-reviewed date here, and review this page whenever the enquiry form or the tracking on the site changes.

Ask us anything on this page

If anything here is unclear, ask before you book rather than after. We would rather answer a difficult question now than manage a misunderstanding later.
